A semi-liquid resin from a giant fennel, galbanum has a bitter, green scent which develops into a greek musk similar to green spikenard as the top notes volatilize. Galbanum is an ingredient in the incense of the tabernacle (Ex. 30:34), was sacred to the Ancient Egyptians, and was a favorite scent of Aleister Crowley, who associated it with the Fool.
