Chypre is a blend of oakmoss, labdanum, coriander, and other herbs and resins which originated on the island of Cyprus, where the famed perfumeries of the Ancient World were located as well as important temples of Aphrodite. Chypre is used in European traditions as a love scent and is worn as a pomander. In Hoodoo, Chypre is used in gambling work. Though these uses seem divergent, they arise because Chypre is associated with fast women and fast luck.
