Dar and Laha are inexpensive Makko substitutes; they absorb water and act as a binder for self-burning incense. Dar is almost odorless, burns evenly and smoothly and is finely powdered. It also burns at a low temperature, which makes it perfect for making incense trails or burning loose, but it should be mixed with hotter burning herbs (such as cloves) for use in incense cones. Dar is not as flexible as Laha so is generally better for making cones.
